One fine day in 2003, I decided to start a food blog to tease my sister and my mother who were both living in the USA. Somehow, along the way, I ended up feeding a lot of people just via the food pictures that I put up everyday. In 2005, I decided to take a break from blogging and just take it easy. So there were sporadic posts from my travels in the US as well as Germany and England. Now in 2009, I'm trying to pick it up again and start chronicaling my journey towards a better lifestyle that is more healthy than what it currently is right now.

: : KLIA Shuttle Terminal : :

I just paid RM15 for 75 minutes. Urgh! Oh well! Don’t know when I’ll be here again so it’s pretty much so for fun. I’m just about the *ONLY* asian person online. Everyone else is Caucasion. And phew! The dinner that I had with Koo and Pegs is really rumbling at the moment.

Koo : For all you know, you might be stuck in a snowstorm in New York!

Choi! Spoilsport. 🙁 Ah well, let’s see some blizzards. I’m hoping the airport will be warm.

Now, reply to comments :

Jas : Yes! One woolen sweater that is 20 yrs old! Found it in Granny’s house one fine day. The one that Mum knitted for Uncle Austin before he left for studies in UK. Very nice and warm. Also got Dad’s winter jacket so should be fine. Had to buy an extra bag to put the jackets in so giving this bag to you in return for forgetting your tote bag. Oopps! A red and orange Adidas bag. Looks very nice I thought. Sorry ah!

Dee : I just hope it will not come out burnt of tasteless. Also need to get pass customs with 3 kg of Sarawak laksa and 5 kg of premix stuff. I’m just hoping it doesn’t suddenly leak out in the middle of the air!!!! Plan to make some great tasting bak kut teh @ pork ribs herbal soup for her. Probably some steam boat as well. AIK! Forgot to buy tom yam paste! Oh well. :p

baSv : Pictures of Wena in a winter jacket and sweater? Miss Rolly Polly Chef more like it! Hahahaha!! No offense to Dr. Liew’s nurses. :p

Ariel : I intend to. Hopefully it will be uneventful. Praying hard for no snowstorms lah.

killuminati : At Kim Gary’s? That was way chun lah! Then again, I’m not too much of a fussy eater. Well, for first timer to Hong Kong food, I had a good time.

Ciao people! Gonna check out the duty free shops first. *wink*

: : Exhaustion : :

Sometime I wonder how I do manage to blog every day. Definitely addictive and yet, so therapeutic. Came back at midnite from work, pack my stuff in half an hour (whatever rubbish I just threw in), showered and am now sitting in front of the PC.

Homemade by a collegue at work, it isn’t very sweet. The oat biscuits was just right and the sweetness was coming from the raisins.

Flying off tomorrow noontime to KL, gotta catch the KL express to Sentral, then catch the Putra to Kelana Jaya, then a cab to my friend’s place. The seasoned traveler? No way! I get motion sickness but surprisingly not on trains.

Can’t wait to see my sis and mum and Denton, Texas. Will be missing my Granny and my hamsters. 🙁 Oh well. Meeting up with other bloggers and catching up with friends. Doing some final food shopping in KL for my sis and Mum.

The next blog update would most likely be from the US after 8 Dec. So, cheerio all! 🙂

: : Laksa, Done : :

Afternoon. Emails at work.

Florence : Hey! Do you happen to know where I can get some good laksa paste?

Wena : Yeah! I usually get them from Goh Say Lak. Swallow brand, blue bird. Heard that the manufacturing place is somewhere at Green Road but dunno where.

Florence : Okay! Going to buy some and try making it. 🙂

She reminded me that I needed to get some laksa paste for Jas. Unfortunately, very tight schedule tonite so called up Jack to help me buy it. He went to the house where the family makes it. Got me 10 packets.

8:30 p.m. Jack’s house. Not at home but his son is there.

Rex : Feeling hungry lah.

Wena : Are you guys going out for dinner? I haven’t had mine either. JOJO’s cafe?

Fiona : There? Not nice lah. How come you guys like it?

Wena : Taste is different mah.

Rex : How about kueh chap?

Wena : Can also.

So, we walked to the famous Kueh Chap stall at Green Road tonite.

Tasted so goooooooooooooooooooooddddd. Gotta find a way to make it for my sister.

Since racheal so sweetly ask if I’m going over to the US, here’s a picture for you. Reminds me of the scenery of Florida on the telly and movie screens. Yes, I’m flying over to the US. Flight plans are as follows :

6-8 Dec : KL. Am going to hang out with some friends and meet new ones at the TBRB meet. Wanna join us for some coffee at Starbucks?

9 Dec : Dallas. My sis lives in Denton so will be staying there.

22 Dec : New York. Have to stopover for one nite. My sis is now looking for a place for me to stay. So sweet.

23 Dec : Fly off from New York.

25 Dec : Back in Kuching.

Cheerio people.

: : Wakey wakey : :

5:30 a.m.

Alarm clock : RRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGG!!!!!

Wena : (tries to open her eyes but fails miserably). Hmm….groan…moan… up up up up. (brushes teeth, handles toilet needs, changes).

6:00 a.m.

Handphone ringing. Min Yen on the line.

Wena : (sleepily) I’m up, I’m up, I’m up, I’m up, I’m up, I’m up.

Min Yen : Wena, I’m on my way back from airport.

Wena : Okay. On the way there.

6:05 a.m.

At Min Yen’s place.

Min Yen : Here. Some langsat and coconut for you. (She gave me 4!!!)

Wena : Wah! Thanks. Granny would like them.

6:15 a.m.

On the road.

Min Yen : Aik! Forgot to pass you the envelope!

Wena : Ok, ok. We turn back to get it.

6:20 a.m.

Min Yen’s handphone ringing. Her Dad at the airport.

Min Yen : On the way now.

Wena : Hahaha!

Min Yen : (to Wena) Dad is punctual. But no worries.

6:25 a.m.

Wena : See you when you get back from Bangkok!

Min Yen : More like see YOU when you get back from US.

6:30 a.m.

Back home to drop off the fruits.

Granny : Aiyo! So many coconuts!

Wena : Min Yen give mah. Enjoy it. Have to go to work now. Bye!

Granny : 😀

On the way to work, I stopped by the coffee shop to buy some kolo kway teow. Tasted really nice with the red char siew sauce inside. Unfortunately, had to use my ornamental chopsticks to eat it. Forgot that I did not have a pair at the office. Haha!

Went out this evening to get some Laksa paste but they ran out at the Goh Say Lak! ARRRRGGGHHH!!! Oh well. On another note, I change the Guestmap again after finding a nicer one at Tarlia’s site.

Going to knock off early tonite. Got caught in the rain yesterday and suddenly not feeling well tonite. Maybe flu. Sigh.

Nitey nite!
