About Me

10 July 2010 : This would be the 2nd time I’ve attempted to change the theme of my website.

In a nutshell, I am still on my weightloss program but am also exercising now to strengthen my back and lost another 14 kg. This is the current goal at this point in time. πŸ™‚

The blog will be about the challenges I’ve faced as well as food that I prepare for my meals.

I’ll write more when I’m in themood. πŸ™‚

17 March 2012 : And now, more than a year later, I decided to take up blogging again after speaking to many friends and family. Also, I love writing about my life a lot, whether it’s about food or anything else, I must admit that I have a lot of fun doing it.Β And one of the things that I have to do is write more about myself as well as what started this entire : Mum-Mum : : Eat-Eat : : blog.

It started one fine day in 2003 when I decided to start a blog just for the heck of it. It was originally on blogspot.com back in the days before they were merged/bought by Google.com. Then my sister started blogging and we were doing it together. Out of the blue, our cousin in Holland, offered to host our blogs and to keep up with the Joneses. πŸ™‚

So thinking hard about it, I didn’t want to write a personal blog and looking around, I wanted to write something that is safe, harmless yet interesting enough to attract attention. So, the topic of food came up which then sparked the phrase “Mum-Mum” since that is always what my parents and relatives always used to say. “Mum-Mum time!” So, with the theme in place, it was easy to take photos. Also, I wanted to tease my Mother and Sister who were both living in the USA at the time. It was fun and I ended up teasing not only them but a lot of other people, especially Asians who were abroad.

The food pics were easy to take because I used to just go out for lunch with a big bunch of colleagues so it was easy to have enough stock photos for the week. Plus, there were a lot of food fairs around in Kuching that it was easy to take more pictures. Plus, there were a lot of interest in the different Asian cooking styles out there that some of the food pics generated a lot of interest.

With that said, it still isn’t a whole lot about Wena, is it? πŸ™‚ At the time of this re-edit, I’m a 36 year old Chinese woman living in Kuching, Sarawak. I work in Environmental, Health and Safety with a multinational company for the past 13 years. Admittedly, I work in a men’s field but somehow along the way, I got treated as one of the guys without much effort. At least, without much conscious effort and I’m not so hung up being female. Anyway, it was a challenge and still is, at times to this very day. But it is about having fun in whatever a person does and I do that a fair bit now.

Now why the interest in writing about food again? Sometimes, it’s nice to take a break, even if it is a long break. And since the website is coming to 10 years old, what better way to enjoy it except to revive it and put up the occasional pictures again. Daily posts may not be so forthcoming but it will be more regular.

And if you’re wondering if my Granny and Uncle Cyril are still around, yes they certainly are. And they are just as hale and hearty as they were, 10 years ago. Actually, the funny events happening everyday is still happening and we’re still having fun together. πŸ™‚

So with that, enjoy reading about food at Mum-Mum once again πŸ™‚

30 November 2014 : Know what? I didn’t manage to blog as much as I wanted to and the usual excuse was “Why wasn’t WordPress easy to use like Facebook?!?” Well, in the current iteration seemed much improved so perhaps now, I will end up writing more than I used to. Let’s see how it goes.

I still eat outside as well as enjoying Granny’s lovely cooking on the inside. It’s just that the pictures don’t always get posted or the stories shared. So, trying to change that now. πŸ™‚
