    ...Wet Day...

    It's raining
    It's pouring
    The Old Man is snoring
    He went to bed
    And he bumped his head
And he couldn't get up in the MOR-NING

I'm irritated. Bunch of stuff came in via courier service AND IT GOT WET!!! The whole box just fell apart. Grr... Not the first time it's ever happened.

So, who is the real culprit that is slacking here?

The seller who sells the product? For not wrapping the equipment in plastic?
The courier company? For not packing it more properly?
The people at the airport i.e. MAS? For not taking preventing the rain from pouring down on it?

So bloody irritated. The box was so wet that it just fell apart. Totally. Such a typical Malaysian attitude. Lousy after-sales services. Lessons never learnt.

    ...Conversation with Handphone Salesman...

Wena : How long need to charge new battery ah?

Salesman : 4 hours first time. After that, every 2 hrs.

Wena : Wah! Sure or not?

    Salesman : Yeah. New technology.

    (After buying the phone)

Salesman : Hmm... maybe need to add one more hour to the charging time.

    Wena : Eh! Why lah!

Salesman : Coz I don't think charger is travel charger so need longer time to charge battery.

Wena : How you know one? No label leh?

Salesman : This charger heavier. Travel charger lighter.

    Wena : ...

    ...New Handphone...

Yep, went out and got myself one today. The Nokia 3100 is just out for the past 2 weeks. Got the white version from Wisma Saberkas. Just about the only white phone in all the shapes without the Chinese characters on the keypad. Very girlie phone, me thinks. Looks great at night too.

When there is an incoming call, the keypad blinks. Thought it was pretty cute. Sadly, the instruction manual was in Mandarin. Grrr... think the phone came from Taiwan. Anyway, thanks to Lolly, have now downloaded the English version.

Now, am waiting to see if there will be a cover that looks like Nokia 2300 for this phone. Love that cover lah!

Will probably get told off from parents for buying a phone instead of flying home! Ha ha!

    ...Uncanny...

Met up with a blogger and friends from KL.

Looks like Auntie Joan's sister's son. Hmm... uncanny lah.

He also knows cousin Ah Ban. Had the gall to write weird MSN messages to him that I presumably said. *Humph* No rest at the next family gathering. I hope that I fall sick then.

Just realised too that he might know Karl Erik Chee. IT Sales people should know other sales people... Presumably, of course.

    ...Stress...

Stress has just got to be one one of the most bizarre health condition ever. How to get rid of it? Takes a long time.

Been in this condition since the beginning of September. Urgh... yep, it's work related. And the toughest part is getting rid of it. Takes me a few days just to get rid of it.

Sleepless nights. Low output productivity. Oh well.

Plus side is that I've lost 5 kg since then. Bad side is that I look permanently fatigue. With panda eyes.

Hmm... thinking of going home this weekend. If I can get supersaver. Wanna see the Balasingams. Haven't seen them in ages!

    ...Vitality Curve...

I perk up a bit when I read this posting. Felt a lot better but I wonder what will happen in the future? More importantly, will I be useful enough to survive in this environment?

In the beginning when I read Jack's autobiography, I thought it was pretty awesome. After awhile, it gets pretty depressing when I start to compare myself against his ideals. Especially after reading the book twice. That's when I stop reading management books. And that was like way back in March of this year.

I did buy the GE Fieldbook online to have a read but still haven't open it yet. Am still thinking about it. Not now when my morale is a bit low. Maybe later on. We'll see.

    ...Losing pens at the office...

This has just got to be the most irritating activity in the entire office. Am always losing my black and blue pens everytime I'm not at my table. Grrr... Then again, I'm not the only one.

Well, a few of us girls came up with a solution : using COLORED PENS! Haha! Seriously though, it works. I used shiny blue, purple, green, red, pink pens. Never went missing again. It work so well that quite a few of the guys are the office decided to follow suit.

The only downside is that I still have to use the normal coloured pens for official documents. Cheh!

Hmm...think I'm getting too trigger happy with the camera.

AND I totally missed out taking a video of a water pipe bursting. The neighbours would have been totally pissed at me.

However, did managed to take some videos of Granny cooking some garlic and compiled into one video with Norah Jones singing in the background. Hefty 32 MB. Not posting it up.

...A Child in the IT Age...

Reading my sister's post on this matter was enlightening. Can't believe that it's been nearly 10 years that we've been communicating via emails, chats and now, blogging.

It started from the time I was in UK back in 95 whereby we used to chat for long long hours via IRC. I didn't have to pay anything since uni facilities were free but poor Dad had to put up with massive phone bills and engaged dial tones at night. Hee hee! Tried to get him into it once but he had a bit of trouble having to type pretty fast and also patiently waiting for a reply. 'Telephone is faster and more meaningful' as his motto was then.

A week before coming back home to Malaysia in mid 97, Jas had to pack her bags and go to the US to start her studies in Information Systems. Again, another round of IRC chatting, this time me having to pay for cybercafe charges in KL and Jas is now chatting for free.

Moving back to Kuching, there was a period of 2 years plus where we communicated via email until I got my PC last year. Then, the whole round of chatting started again.

We probably will continue to chat for many years to come as she might not come back to Malaysia to work upon graduation. Oh well. We'll see.

Great idea if you ask me. Hate driving around looking for a parking space.

The only problem is that it still cannot prevent people from parking in places other than allocated parking lots. Very Asian mentality : park the car at the nearest exit.

    ...Blood Donation...

    Friday afternoon

    1:30 p.m.

Tech : Boss, you free to help give blood today ah? My friend in hospital needs O+ type blood and SGH hospital no more than blood type lah. Somemore, blood bank not open tomorrow because public holiday.

Wena : Okay lor. I go down.

    2:00 p.m.

Nurse : Sorry, miss, but you cannot donate blood. You were in UK during the period 1980 to 1996 for more than 6 months. That was period during Mad Cow Disease.

I pity the gal who was recovering from an appendicitus operation. She needed 6 pints of blood and will not get it. Sigh. Her whole church is doing the calling and not the bloodbank.

If the bloodbank is so lacking in blood, why don't they telephone people who donated previously? All telephone contacts are listed down in the declaration form that a blood donor is required to fill in. Don't tell me it's because of high telephone bills unless you're using it more for personal calls. Telekom, if you want to contribute something back to the community, why not allocate free calls to the blood bank to make calls to blood donors.

Yes, nurses are in a noble profession of saving lifes. How about improving procedures more so that more lives can be saved at a lower cost to life? Makes me wonder whether what people say (about blood banks in Malaysia not being able to properly store blood properly) is true. Somemore, with the tightened restrictions on who can give blood is enforced, the Health Ministry should really do something about ensuring blood banks are properly managed. I'd probably hear someone saying it's the hospital management team that runs the hospital but not the Health Ministry.

Stop whining and do something about it. Shortages are a damn big no-no which could be prevented. It's okay to have restrictions on who should be donating blood to avoid contamination. But seriously, shortages can be prevented if only hospitals will suck in their bloody pride when people give recommendations and not think that negative feedback is the end of the world. Take action to correct the situation.

Since the government has a statistic department, they should do an audit on how often the bloodbank runs out of blood. Maybe should also check how many people died because no blood was available in time. Maybe also compare what if the blood got to the patient earlier, the patient recovery time period would decrease (bit difficult to do but not totally impossible).

Knowing the Malaysian government, until a titled person passes away during a situation of blood shortage, chances are that these bloody shortages will still occur and in a more frequent manner.

No mood to celebrate the Sarawak Governor's Birthday. Wonder how he'll like it if someone he knows needs blood urgently and there is a blood shortage.

    ...Fluttering Fairy...

Last nite, was sitting in front of the PC updating mum-mum's when I saw this. At first I thought it was a pretty big moth until I realised it was the effect of the fan blocking the fluoresent lamp.

It's a bit blur as the lighting wasn't that good. So, might need to adjust the brightness and contracts of your monitor to get the best effect.

    ...Being a Woman in a Man's World...

It's so heartening to read about what another fellow lady is suffering at her job in the IT line. And always, the same excuse for when problems occur is all because of your sex.

Guys, you seriously have to wake up one day and realise that when you make it harder for us ladies to succeed, chances are we most likely will. Yeah, you do get some people who aren't that good on the job but perhaps they weren't meant for that particular job? Also, what makes you think that there aren't any other males might not be able to deliver? Don't forget that by making us ladies work harder, we pick up the experience as well.

    Think about it.

    ...House Renovations...

Was a bit late posting up the renovations pictures. Anyway, here they are.

Granny is closing up the back of the house to extend the kitchen in order to convert the existing kitchen into a dining room.

My uncle's storeroom with a drain pipe running through it. HAHAHA!

Uncle Cyril's fishtank had to be moved to make way for the extention.

I dunno why it's there. Seriously.

Even my room was not spared. Two windows walled up and the remaining windows have to be redone as it doesn't close properly anymore.

That's all for now. More pictures later.

    ...Passing time...

I'm wracking my head on what to put up in this thing. Humph!

How about to do list? Nah, too long. :p

    Interesting sites? Let's see :

Maharaja Commission : recommended by a friend. Listened to a few songs alone. Wow! My head is still ringing. It takes a bit getting used to, I guess. Gotta ask a friend from KL to get me the CD just to have a listen.

Pete Teo : radio has been advertising his new album and the theme of the songs are a mix of folksongs and easy listening. Nice website.

Am I AhMoi or what? : err... no comment. I did have a good laugh though.

Rocketmania : :) Well, what can I say? Safe playing with firecrackers.

Eggyolk : Prepare to get splattered. Literally.

TV Smith's Dua Sen : Always interesting. Never a dull moment.

Well, this glorious shiny hair is going to get a trim. Getting too long and too heavy for my head. Tried to keep it waistlength but it's too hard. Oh well. After seeing Sophia's long long hair two years back, wanted to try keeping it long.

Halfway down my back and the hairdresser keeps trimming it each time. Says it's too long. Grr... hopefully, can persuade him not to cut it *too* much.
